What Does a Land Surveying Company Do

What is Land Surveying?

Land surveying is a technique to map a particular area for development or analysis. Land surveys are performed to determine a land's position, elevations, shape, and boundaries.

There are various methods used in land surveying activities. The most common methods used for land surveying are the total station, levelling instrument, and the global navigation satellite system, or Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).

There are new technologies to help with land surveying, such as drones, laser scanning, Electromagnetic Locator, etc.

What does a Land Surveying Company Do?

Land surveying is a foundation component of any construction or development project, but general public may have a limited view of what land surveyors do and why it matters so much.

At the beginning of the existence of land surveyors, the survey works only involved cadastral surveys and engineering surveys, which is for the issuance of land or strata titles.

Over time, the role of land surveyors has expanded to include a range of other services, including environmental surveys, heritage surveys, zoning surveys and much more.

The technology used by modern land surveyors has also evolved tremendously, with the most advanced equipment being able to perform surveying through various platforms from the air space to the seabed.

Along with the latest technological advances, the role of land surveyors is expanding further than ever.

Previously, our company focused mainly on surveying, but now we provide various geospatial mapping and GIS solutions through the use of drones, laser scanning, and mobile mapping.

Apart from carrying out survey work, Land Surveyor companies are also responsible for providing advisory services to the public who need consultation and solutions in land matters.

Landowners, developers, architects, the government, or any party who wants to develop their land should seek the consultation of Licensed Land Surveyor to ensure that right procedures are followed.

In summary, this century has seen the scope of work of Licensed Land Surveyors expand in line with the latest technological developments.

Despite dramatic breakthroughs in surveying and positioning, the ability of a surveyor to capture, manage, and use spatial information has changed the most.

Field computers have evolved into tiny, durable, and powerful devices that can be wirelessly connected to the office.

Management, analysis, and visualization tools have improved in speed, flexibility, and ease of use.

Land surveyors and their clients have reaped major benefits as a result of these advancements in technology and software.

The advancement of technology has facilitated the evolution of a land surveyor from a surveyor to a geospatial data manager.

In this extended function, a surveyor can choose, gather, and combine information and procedures to satisfy the project's demands while still being able to drill down into the smallest of details.

However, to be a successful Licensed Land Surveyor must master the fundamentals of survey work and be familiar with the latest survey technology that simplifies survey work and provides a more accurate result.
